The Chairmakers, in Apless Lane, World’s End – west of Denmead – has teamed up with canine culinary chefs Paleo Ridge to put together a special pub menu for dogs.
And the offering – which includes grass-fed beef, wild rabbit, and outdoor-reared pork – has seen landlord Angus Reid selling 40 meals a week.

‘We decided to come up with something a bit different.
‘Already it’s been a huge hit, empty plates and happy customers for both dogs and people, that’s what it is all about.’
And the food has proven to be a hit with the landlord's own dogs – Jack Russell and Terrier cross Mickey, and Toffee, a Yorkie Poodle cross – who are vital for the pub’s atmosphere, according to Angus.
He said: ‘It makes a pub more friendly. I'm surprised more pubs don't offer dog food menus.’

Tyler Daly, managing Director of Paleo Ridge, said he – alongside his dog Django – had enjoyed working on the ‘innovative partnership’.
Tyler added: ‘We believe this is the first partnership of this kind in the UK.

‘As a dog owner, I’m passionate about feeding the best diet possible.

‘We plan to partner with other dog friendly pubs over the coming months, building on the success at The Chairmakers.’
The Fuller's-owned pub reopened after the national lockdown having undergone a £25,000 refurbishment.
Paleo Ridge was founded in 2014 after the Dalys' family dog became ill with bone cancer - which led to a new diet for their beloved pet and then a savvy business idea.
