The teams at Covers Timber and Builders Merchants in Portsmouth and Gosport helped raise this impressive sum of money after taking part in Christmas Jumper Day.

Staff at the company got into the festive spirit by wearing an array of seasonally inspired sweaters and jumpers in return for a £2 donation.

Henry Green, managing director of Covers, said: ‘This year has been particularly difficult for charities so we are delighted to be supporting hospices in our communities once again with our annual Christmas Jumper Day.

‘Hospices rely heavily on funding to operate, so we hope this latest donation will help make a difference to the vital work they do taking care of patients and their families.’

Staff were very proud of their fundraising total, especially knowing their funds would have a huge effect on Rowans Hospice which needs support more than ever.

The Rowans Hospice offers support and care to families from diagnosis of a serious or life-limiting illness, through end of life and on to bereavement.

Staff and volunteers at the hospice provide individualised care for the whole family, not just the patient.

Its services are provided free of charge thanks to the generosity of the local community in raising funds through challenges and schemes like Christmas Jumper Day.
