He said: ‘I’ve always wanted to open up a dessert shop, and Gosport is the perfect place to do it.

‘Emily has been making cake trays for a while now, and with lockdown we’ve had more time on our hands to get things off the ground.

‘Everything will be freshly made in-store – we can’t wait to get started.

Maz is studing anthropology and social anthropology at Bournemouth University, while Emily is studying fashion journalism at the University of Southampton.

This week, the couple have been refurbishing their 48A High Street shop, and anticipation is already beginning to swell.

People on the high street seem really excited,’ said Maz.

‘There’s nothing like this in Gosport and it feels great to open a new business in the high street – we want to become part of the local community, everyone has been so supportive and we’re very thankful for that.

‘I really like the community here and they deserve more choice in terms of food.’

On March 5 the store will open its doors, and two days later will go online via JustEat and Deliveroo.

The Cookie Guys will deliver across Gosport and 6.5 miles into the surrounding area.

Biscoff, M&Ms and Oreos all feature as ingedients on the menu, being used in cookie doughs, milkshakes and sauces.

Nothing on the menu costs more than £12, as Maz and Emily aim to make their food affordable for everyone.

‘We hope to be around for a very long time,’ said Maz.
