Coronavirus: Portsmouth Trade Union Council to hold virtual minute's silence for health, care and other key workers who have died

A VIRTUAL minute’s silence will be held to remember all the health, care and other key workers who have lost their lives to coronavirus.

Portsmouth Trade Union Council will mark International Workers Memorial Day on Tuesday (April 28) with a minute’s silence at 11am and short rally via Zoom from 11.45am until 12.15pm.

Flowers will also be laid at the Workers Memorial in Victoria Park.

Chair of PTUC, Jon Woods, said: ‘We cannot allow a return to business as normal. Our health and social care systems were in crisis before coronavirus after years of austerity and privatisation.

‘As trade unionists we will have to resist the pressure from government and big business for an unsafe and rushed end to the lockdown.’
