'Delight' as former Bar + Block Portsmouth prepares to reopen under Common Table Group

Restaurant to reopen under new management

Following a period of closure, a restaurant is reopening under a new name and ownership.

Bar + Block Portsmouth, in Queen Street, closed earlier this year after its operating company, Whitbread, made the decision to shut down hundreds of its sites nationwide as a money-saving tactic.

The site is now gearing up for a new chapter as the Common Table Group takes over the restaurant as part of its growing portfolio.

Now named The Kings Dockyard, the venue will welcome guests back with all-day dining featuring breakfast, lunch and dinner, alongside a new barista coffee offering from Rodeo Coffee.

Thomas Anderson, founder of Common Table Group, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing these restaurants back to life. They each hold a special place in their local communities, and we’re looking forward to welcoming guests through the doors again very soon.

“Our aim is to create welcoming places where people can come together, enjoy great food and drink, and feel part of their local community.”

Spruce Goose in Basingstoke and Balmoral in Southampton are also part of the Common Table Group.

Further information, including confirmed reopening dates and details of any special offers will be announced online in due course.
