Enterprise day inspires pupils into business

AN ENTERPRISE day was held by a Portsmouth marketing company to inspire young people to take an interest in business.

Held at Priory School in Southsea, it was organised by Little Kanga and saw students take part in workshops and interviewing lessons.

They were split up into groups and asked to create and pitch a social media campaign around a bluetooth speaker.

The workshops were designed to give students confidence as well as giving them experience of working in a group.

Amy Beck, the careers and enrichment coordinator at the school, said: ‘Usually schools just have mock interview days but we wanted to do something different. We thought of what businesses look for and then asked what the students wanted.’

The day also saw guests from Boots come in to talk to students about what to wear at interviews as well as them contributing prizes for the best presentation.

Becky Lodge, founder of Little Kangain Lord Montgomery Way, said: ‘I would definitely say it was a success.

‘Collaborative working between both business and education providers has proven that if you have a great idea, then it really can impact positively on others and change their skills and engender both confidence and knowledge.’
