People gathered outside the business, which has been closed since Christmas, on Saturday to see it officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth Cllr Frank Jonas.

Andre said: ‘We were hoping it was going to be busy but it’s great to see so many people here. We’ve got more food on offer now as well as the favourites we used to sell.

‘I have been working here since I was about five years old and I’ve always enjoyed it.

‘I didn’t think I would still be here but I am pleased that I am.’

Cllr Jonas said: ‘This opening is great for the area.

‘This is what we want to see in Portsmouth, individual businesses doing well.’
