The 35-year-old, from North End, has relaunched the company started by his parents in 1988, and opened it as Andre’s Food Bar.

Known for years as La Croissanterie, the shop in Osborne Road, Southsea, has been revamped with new decor and a range of new food.

People gathered outside the business, which has been closed since Christmas, on Saturday to see it officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth Cllr Frank Jonas.

‘I have been working here since I was about five years old and I’ve always enjoyed it.

‘I didn’t think I would still be here but I am pleased that I am.’
