Fareham Chinese Takeaway gets five-star hygiene rating

A CHINESE takeaway has had its food hygiene rating jump from one to five stars.

Hygiene inspectors called for major improvements at The Golden Boat in West Street, Fareham in a scathing report back in June.

Inspectors raised fears in the report about the ‘inadequate’ way food was handled at the takeaway and that there was a fly infestation on the premises.

Following the inspection, the establishment was then re-branded as The New Golden Boat over the summer under new management and with a new chef.

Inspectors returned to the takeaway on October 26, and have now amended its rating to a five – classed as ‘very good’.

The report highlighted that the food was handled in a hygienic manner in terms of preparation, cooking and storage.

It allocated praise towards the takeaway’s system for ensuring that all food sold is safe to eat and that its staff were well clued-up on food safety and the standards required to maintain it.
