Fareham graduate launches her own designer clothing brand

AN entrepreneur and fashion designer has launched her own fashion brand straight from university.

Graduate Cabrini Roy’s hard work has paid off as she unveiled her own luxury ready-to-wear brand.

Her new enterprise, named Cabrini Roy, showcases the young designer’s use of bold silhouettes and minimalist style.

Cabrini, who is an ex-Highbury College student, explores ways to visually represent her story, whether that be drawing inspiration from her childhood to create contemporary streetwear, or taking influence from her Filipino culture.

She hopes that the garments will create a distinct style, different from other designers, but will be comfortable enough to be worn every day.

The 23-year-old hopes to use her pieces to empower the everyday modern woman, while putting an emphasis on setting your own trends with no boundaries - something that she hopes to do by providing numerous ways to style each essential piece, which she showcases through her website.

She said: ‘I’ve dreamt about this since I was nine and now I’m here.

‘I have worked incredibly hard the past few months working on lots of different editorial shoots and campaigns, patterns and sizing, fabrics, marketing, website, packaging and labels, and finally Cabrini Roy Studio is now open for business.’

Her journey to success started back in 2014 when she excelled on her level three extended diploma in fashion at Highbury College.

She went on to graduate with an honours degree in Fashion Design

Technology: Womenswear at the London College of Fashion.

Cabrini, from Fareham, is a resident maker at craft studio Making Space, based in Havant, which is where she completed her work experience placement in 2012.

After several of her designs made catwalk appearance at London Fashion Week in September 2019, her designs were profiled in British Vogue as an up-and-coming designer to watch.

She has also been featured in British fashion magazine, Elle, as one of the fashion brands to support during the pandemic.

The graduate said: ‘I have the most supportive people around me, I couldn’t have built this brand without the help of all my friends and family - I can’t thank them enough.’
