Figures show unemployment has fallen again

UNEMPLOYMENT has fallen across Portsmouth, according to new Government figures.

The latest figures for the Office of National Statistics show that 2,215 people were claiming Jobseekers Allowance in March, down from 2,240.

Numbers were also down in Gosport, going from 625 in February down to 615 in March.

In Havant, a total of 1,175 claimed the benefit last month, down from 1.185 in February.

In Fareham there was a very small rise with 485 people claiming Jobseekers Allowance, up from 480.

Nationally the unemployment rate rose slightly - the first increase since last summer.
