Fire breaks out in Portsmouth Costa Coffee this evening

A FIRE broke out in an empty Costa Coffee this evening before being extinguished.

Fire crews attended the blaze at the Cosham High Street shop around 4.30pm before forcing entry.

Firefighters from Cosham found a small fridge on fire after entering the Costa.

No one was inside the closed premises.

A spokesman for Cosham Fire Station, which sent two trucks, said: ‘There was a lot of smoke but it looked worse than it was. The fire was nearly out by the time we arrived.

‘We extinguished it within five minutes using hose reels and breathing apparatus.’
