Purplebricks, an online estate agent, gave £3,000 towards the purchase of a blood gas analyser for the children’s assessment unit.

At the moment, the unit does not have its own machine so it has to rely on using machines in other areas of the hospital.

Kenny Bruce, co-founder of Purplebricks, said: ‘The work the staff do and time they give to raise funds for this piece of equipment is remarkable, and we are extremely pleased to donate towards this cause.’

Tracey Thomas, sister on the unit, added: ‘The staff from the paediatrics department at QA would like to give their sincere thanks to Purplebricks for their donation towards the fund.

‘For a national company still in its infancy to provide such a generous donation to support a local fundraising initiative is both humbling and inspiring.’
