The design plans, drawn up by Morse Webb Architects, will border the existing facilities with an enclosed connection between the new and old buildings on the site located at the War Memorial Community Hospital until October 2019.

Dr Lara Alloway, medical director at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: '˜We are delighted that work has begun on the expansion and are looking forward to continuing to work with our partners at the Hospice Trust at this exciting time to continue to provide outstanding end of life care for the community in Andover.

'˜A huge amount of work has been involved in getting to this stage and I want to thank everyone who has been a part of that.'
