Food delivery service Deliveroo expands its reach across Portsmouth

Deliveroo, which allows people to order food from restaurants and have it delivered at home, launched in Portsmouth earlier this year.

Earlier this week, it announced its expansion to Milton and Eastney.

The launch means residents of Milton and Eastney can now get food from restaurants, such as Deep Blue, Cinnamon Cafe, Scoops and Jags@119, delivered to their door in 30 minutes for a £2.50 delivery fee.

The expansion will create jobs for a number of drivers in the city over the next year, and will bring significant increased revenues to partner restaurants. For example, many Portsmouth partner restaurants have reported an increase of up to 30 per cent in revenues.

General manager of Deliveroo Jeremy Rawlinson said: ‘We’ve seen a big appetite for Deliveroo in Portsmouth so far – we’re excited to be working with even more great restaurants in the area, and to be serving the hungry people of Milton and Eastney.

‘Busy consumers will now be able to enjoy high-quality meals at home or in the office, delivered consistently and quickly, whether it’s burgers, ramen, or pasta.’

Deliveroo, which was launched in some parts of the UK in 2013, has already seen impressive growth.

The service has had a 25 per cent month-on-month growth since inception, while daily orders have grown ten-fold since January 2015.

Mr Rawlinson said: ‘Expanding our operation in Portsmouth is a natural next step in our mission to offer the highest quality food delivery service in the UK.

‘In the 60+ towns and cities we currently operate in, we have an enthusiastic base of repeat customers and we’re looking forward to meeting new food lovers in Milton and Eastney.’
