Home improvement store offering free rock salt
A HOME improvement store is offering free rock salt for its customers, ahead of the predicted icy weather.
Wickes, in Newgate Lane, Fareham, has one tonne of rock salt that it hopes people will take away and use to keep pavements free of ice.
Steve Allen, store manager, said: ‘It’s free for the public to take away. Rather than selling it, I thought we’d offer it for people to help themselves to, to help the community. There are people out there who are vulnerable or elderly, who may benefit from the community acting.’
