McDonald's in Fareham reopens after coronavirus closure - and you can get half-price grub

The fast food restaurants closed in March due to the coronavirus outbreak and have slowly been reopening since the start of June.

They have all now reopened – with McDonald’s in West Street, Fareham, reopening this morning .

Franchisee Grant Copper, who runs restaurants across Portsmouth, Havant, Fareham and Gosport, said: ‘Fareham was the last restaurant to reopen.

‘We have been operational at some of our other restaurants for a few weeks now with new measures in place and it has been going well.

‘From Monday to Wednesday we are taking part in the Eat Out To Help Out scheme, which gives people 50 per cent off, and that has been really well received.

‘Obviously it is a whole new way of working for us and we have been taking things cautiously to make sure things are safe for our staff and our customers.

‘It has been difficult, like it has for many other businesses, but we have been pleased to the response by our customers.’

The Eat Out To Help Out Scheme launched on Monday and gives people up to 50 per cent off their bills at pubs, restaurants and cafes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout August.

The scheme – part of the government’s Plan for Jobs that hopes to spur the country’s economic recovery from coronavirus – applies to all food and non-alcoholic drinks, with a maximum discount per person of £10.
