‘If you have an idea you can put it to the business development manager or the operations manager and feel that you will be listened to, which I really like. It is great to feel that you can help the business.’

Dean has worked in the industry for 20 years. When he joined CSG, he handled hazardous waste telesales at its Cadishead site, near Manchester.

He said: ‘The department was really successful, and the team grew as we took on more personnel. Last year, I took over industrial and domestic telesales, which is based in Fareham. The move saw me take on the role of telesales manager and I oversee all three departments now.

‘I felt there was a real argument for one person to provide a nationwide approach for the whole telesales team and create an environment where we can all share ideas and have a team ethos. It is going really well.

‘I thoroughly enjoy helping the business grow. We drive a lot of new business and it is great to know that what we do can have a positive effect on the business, sales, profit, and growth.’

Selling seems to be in Dean’s blood and he admits that even as a young teenager he would go to scrapyards to find items he could sell.

‘I get a real buzz out of selling, there is nothing else like it,’ added the family man, who is married with one child and a dog.

‘I am in a great position as I have a wonderful team to work with who drive successful sales – it is a role that I thoroughly enjoy.’

Mike Wilson, CSG group business development manager, said: ‘Dean was the first telesales I recruited for the business - his drive and enthusiasm were infectious. He has developed well over the 10 years and has much more to offer in the future growth of CSG.’

CSG was founded as a one-man sewage collection business in rural Hampshire more than 85 years ago and now employs a national workforce of nearly 500 people. The company, which has 26 other sites across the UK, is one of the largest privately-owned industrial and domestic environmental waste management groups in Britain.
