Neonatal intensive care unit gets donation

It donated £1,000 to the neonatal intensive care unit at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham, as well as £500 worth of knitwear for the premature babies.

Mandi Myers, community champion from the Tesco store in Clement Attlee Way, North Harbour, popped into the hospital and presented Sue Billingham, staff nurse for the neonatal intensive care unit, with the donations.

Portsmouth Hospitals Charity supports the patients of Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust by improving existing facilities and by providing additional equipment, supporting research programmes and innovation in the development of services and education to both patients and staff.

Mandi said: ‘The Queen Alexandra neonatal care unit helps premature babies and bigger babies in their vital first few days.

‘Its service is vital and we are delighted to have been able to present Sue with the £1,000 cheque for the neonatal intensive care unit.’

Sue said: ‘We would like to say a huge thank you to the Tesco Portsmouth North Harbour store for its generous donation.

‘The money and baby clothes will help the families we care for have a more positive experience on the neonatal unit.’
