All cakes are made and decorated fresh every day and use cream icing.

Cake lovers can design a cake in a size and shape of their choice either in the store or online and pick it up on the same day.

Cakes can be decorated with fruit, decorations and pictures and come in chocolate sponge, Victoria sponge and red velvet.

A new tanning salon has opened in Purbrook

The new shop is a franchise of the brand, which operates more than 120 stores across the country.

It is managed by Tham Gurung, who also runs another Egg Free Cake Box store in Southampton and was previously a restaurant owner.

He said: ‘This is the first time that Egg Free Cake Box is opening in Portsmouth. I am excited to open, hopefully we will do good in here because we are the only cake shop that can do cakes on the same day and it is egg free. There’s not a lot of places that do cream cakes in the area either, so we’re quite hopeful about that.’

It was set up in 2008 by a family who led a strict lacto-vegetarian diet, meaning they follow a regular vegetarian diet but include dairy products.

Tham said he hopes that they will launch a dairy-free range soon, which will be suitable for vegans.

There are currently six members of staff working at the shop, most of whom live in the Portsmouth area.
