Sun of a Beach opened on London Road in Purbrook taking the place of what once was the One Stop.

The sunbeds come in two varieties - one with blue LED lights and one with red - and have a range of health benefits.

The blue sunbeds can be used to help skin conditions such as acne, as the blue lights kill bacteria while the UV rays help to dry out the skin.

They are also good for treating eczema and giving the skin an instant glow.

The red sunbeds can be used to prevent signs of aging, as the lights help the skin produce collagen.

They have also been said to improve joint and muscle pain.

The shop is owned by Lisa Castle, and Charlie Spurway, who also owns Charlie’s Nails in Widley, and opened on Monday, December 20.

Charlie said: ‘Everything in moderation. When we were looking into opening a tanning shop we wanted Ergoline beds because they’re the best beds on the market and when we looked into we decided we had to have these ones because of all the benefits.’

The salon’s manager, Evie Saupe said: ‘A large portion of people that come in come in for health benefits. They say they want to boost their mood, help their skin and get other health benefits.’

All staff are fully trained to recommend customers products and tanning times depending on their skin type.

The salon also boasts a ‘getting ready station’, equipped with hair straighteners and hairspray for those on the go.

Each private tanning room is also fully stocked with deodorant, make-up wipes, hairbands and goggles to protect the users’ eyes from the UV lights.

There is also a room designated to other beauty treatments, such as facial treatments and eyelash extensions, which is run by Phoebe Elam.

They are open from 8am until 8pm from Monday until Friday and from 10am until 6pm on Sundays.
