New salon offers lush lashes
A TOUCH of glamour is being brought to a Portsmouth shopping district as a beautician has opened her first brow and lash salon.
Unique Lash & Brow Bar’s grand opening took place at on Tuesday, April 18.
Guests were welcomed into the salon with prosecco, cupcakes and balloons.
Owner Nicole Ford, 40, from Cosham, previously worked for Benefit Cosmetics.
After 10 years in the industry she decided to join forces with fellow beautician, Jamie Mitchell, 40, after they met in London on a HD Brows training course earlier this year.
Jamie Mitchell, 40, from Emsworth, said: ‘We just clicked.’
Nicole had the idea of opening a lash and brow bar and they decided to go for it as a team.
They took over the premises at the start of March and converted it from computer shop.
Within six weeks the shop was transformed into a boutique-style salon.
Nicole said: ‘I’d describe the salon’s style as classic and elegant. My favourite aspect of the shop is the overall look that we’ve achieved and how it’s all come together.’
The pair have been in the beauty industry for 20 years between them. Jamie previously worked for Estée Lauder.
Jamie said: ‘There’s a niche for lash and brow bars, there weren’t any others around, but perhaps it’ll take off.’
Before the salon had officially opened, customers were queuing outside to book appointments. Jamie said: ‘There’s been a lot of interest from people of all ages.’
The salon offers a variety of services including waxing, HD Brows, wedding and occasion makeup, eye treatments, festival makeup and makeup lessons.
Jamie said: ‘If it does well we could open more lash and brow bars – maybe it could end up being a franchise. It’s going smoothly so far, everything’s falling into place.’
Nicole said: ‘We both have the same background in beauty and this is the start of a new journey together.’
Unique Lash & Brow Bar in High Street, Cosham, is open six days a week.
