New vehicle for hybrid fleet

A SECOND vehicle will be added to a hybrid autonomous fleet.

Modus is adding a second Saab Seaeye Sabertooth to its Hybrid Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (HAUV) fleet.

The 3000-metre rated Sabertooth from Saab, based in Fareham, will be equipped with extended autonomous endurance and increased thrust for high speed survey.

The head of dynamics business unit underwater systems at Saab Anne-Marie Vösu said: ‘It’s great to receive further orders from Modus, it is a proof from the customer that they are satisfied with Saab’s unique AUV/ROV hybrid solution that we are continuing to develop for customers’ further needs.’

Jake Tompkins, CEO at Modus added:  ‘We are continuing to bring to market highly differentiated capabilities as we develop not only a fleet of autonomous vehicles but also AI and machine learning methods for integrating data.’
