Portsmouth restaurant The Akash to donate sales to Christmas campaign
Staff at The Akash in Albert Road, Southsea, have joined forces with the city's Reverse Advent Calendar initiative, organised by the Trussell Trust Food Bank and Red Cross Portsmouth.
On Wednesday, December 16, 30 per cent of the takings from all sales, from table service inside the restaurant to deliveries made that day, will be put towards the campaign, helping households across the city.

Hide AdThe idea of the Reverse Advent Calendar is simple – instead of taking something out, you put something in, like warm socks or a bar of chocolate. At the end of the month instead of an empty calendar, you have a box full of items to donate.
Working alongside the University of Portsmouth, alumni, brothers and restaurant co-owners Faz and Jaf Ahmed were keen to get involved.
Faz said: 'For anyone who orders a meal via phone or our website on Wednesday December 16, we will donate 30 per cent of our takings on every order to support these two brilliant charities.
'Then, as business owners, my brother and I will match the amount to bring the total donation to 30 per cent of everything which gets ordered. I feel very blessed for all The Akash has achieved, but it’s not about us, it’s about helping those who need it most.’
