Pundit Kammy supports football fundraiser

A BUILDING society in Portsmouth held a football-themed fundraiser which was backed by football pundit Chris Kamara.

Yorkshire Building Society’s branch on Commerical Road raised £173.70 for Marie Curie, for which ex-Pompey player Kamara is an ambassador.

The event was on July 1 and customers and staff enjoyed football-themed cakes and a football sweepstake competition.

Every £20 raised will help fund one hour of Marie Curie nursing care. Yorkshire Building Society hopes to raise £1m through the Hour of Need appeal by the end of the year.

Emma Palmer, manager of the Portsmouth branch, said: ‘We’re so proud that customers in Portsmouth have helped us raise enough money to fund almost nine hours of Marie Curie nursing care.

‘The Hour of Need campaign is having a real impact on terminally ill people and their families and we will continue to raise even more money throughout the rest of the year.”

Chris Kamara, said: ‘There has been some unbelievable fundraising happening for Marie Curie, thanks to the Society’s Hour of Need campaign.
