Sailor still needs sponsorsÂ

Gosport sailor Alex Alley hopes to break the current record of 137 days, 20 hours, 1 minute and 57 seconds with his expedition, which sets off in November. 

However, the boat still needs sponsors. 

Alex said: '˜Although we have quite a few of our sails now sponsored, we still have a couple of sails that require sponsors '“ a '˜furling reacher' which we expect to be in use a lot of the time and a couple of spinnakers, all there to be branded and used for marketing.

'˜As the sails are all custom made, it takes up to seven weeks to build a sail and a further week to have it branded so time is rapidly running out for anyone who would like to have a branded sail go around the world.'
