Schoolgirls win digital event
A TEAM of eight girls from Portsmouth High School were delighted to finish first in a competition to promote careers in technology.
The DigiGirlz event was held at Microsoft’s headquarters in Reading last week.
The inspirational event focussed on how to engage with girls in order to capture their interest and educate them about careers in technology. They were asked to develop a pair of gloves and came first.
Isabella Adams, 13, said: ‘I really didn’t think that I was going to learn all that much. However I would definitely consider a tech career now.’
Head of careers at Portsmouth High School Sammy Davies said: ‘Hearing from all of the Microsoft working women – from interns to product managers and CEO – was inspirational and really made the Portsmouth High girls think seriously about technology careers. The team was thrilled to come in first place.’
