Southsea development brings 30 jobs to the city

ALMOST 30 jobs were created to build nearly 100 homes in Southsea.

Retirement housebuilder McCarthy & Stone invested in the workforce to build the new development in South Parade, Southsea which comprises of 66 assisted living apartments for over-70s and a further 31 retirement living apartments for the over-60s.

The 30 jobs were created over the course of the construction of the new development.

Daren Milne, contracts manager at the site, said: ‘McCarthy & Stone’s commitment to sourcing its tradesmen from the local work pool provides a welcome boost to the Southsea community.

‘The importance of employing local workforces cannot be underestimated and as the site continues to progress we will be looking to recruit more skilled tradesmen from the surrounding area.’

The apartments are set to be released for off-plan sales in the autumn of next year, with first homeowners expected to move in by early 2018.
