Southsea's oldest sandwich shop Andre's announces temporary closure to keep staff and customers safe

Andre’s, in Osborne Road, said it would be closing temporarily in order to keep staff safe.

Co-owner Andre Guedeney said: ‘We will be back but we thought it was the right time to close, so we can make sure our staff and customers are safe. With the rates of infection so high, we don’t want to do anything to encourage the spread. Southsea has been busy, and we are grateful for the custom, but we felt it was time for a break.’

The business posted its news on Facebook on Sunday, prompting an outcry from customers.

One said: ‘Hopefully it won’t be for long guys. Looking forward to some deliciousness on the other side.’

Andre’s has two shops – one in Osborne Road and the other in Lord Montgomery Way, which is also closed.

The business, Southsea's oldest independent sandwich shop, was formerly called La Croissanterie and was started by Andre’s father Jean-Marie Guedeney in 1988. It is now run by Andre and his cousin Antony Aguado-Navarro.
