Swanmore Butchers, in New Road, closed its doors for good earlier this month.

Owner Gary Wright took over the shop five years ago.

He said the decision to close was ‘heartbreaking’ but that he needed to focus his attention on his other butcher’s shop – also called Swanmore Family Butcher’s – at Hillier Garden Centre in Woodhouse Lane, Botley.

The New Road shop has been taken over by community group Giving To Those In Need. The group started on Facebook and acts like a charity shop and food bank.

A post from organiser Maria Dore said: ‘We have some beautiful treasures in our shop. Still unpacking but so far so good. Anyone needs anything, please pop down.’
