A HAVANT-based construction team has helped to raise thousands of pounds for local groups.

BAM Construction, the team behind Dunsbury Business Park, recently visited Krystal House, the home of local charity Step By Step.

Staff descended on Krystal House, a base for the charity which helps young people going through hard times, to transform the site’s exterior.

They built a new bike shed, cut back overgrowth, created a new storage space and set up a picnic table.

Training and development worker Jack Vincent said: ‘The new bench is an incredible addition to our outside area and the new shed allows our young people to store their bikes and other equipment safely outside.

‘It’s truly humbling to have had BAM and its subcontractors come and do this life-changing work for us.

‘Our young people have very little in the world, and quality of life changes like these give them a little bit more to value, and it helps to make our service feel more like home.’

The team also donated £1000 to another cause. Simon Gray from BAM said: ‘Having done this thoroughly enjoyable project for Step by Step, we chose CLIC Sargent, the children’s cancer charity, to donate our £1000 prize to.’
