Tipner fire: Haunting images reveal the devastation at TJ Waste after huge fire

The devastating scenes left at the TJ Waste and Recycling site have now been revealed following a huge fire over the weekend.

A fire started at the two-storey unit in Tipner Lane on Saturday, July 6 which burned for most of the weekend with around 117 tonnes of dry domestic and commercial waste on fire.

Huge plumes of smoke blanketed much of the north of the city and caused severe disruption to the road network, with the M275 forced to close for much of the weekend as wind pushed smoke over the motorway creating a safety hazard.

TJ Waste has apologised for the disruption caused, as well as thanked those involved in getting the fire under control. Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service has said the most likely cause of the fire is lithium batteries.
