The Greene King venue, which dates back to the 1700s, is currently covered in scaffolding but remains open as usual until the renovation work commences next month.

Julio Da Silva, general manager at the Spice Island pub, said: "The Spice Island is a much-loved pub and a lively hub for the local community, and we can't wait to showcase a new look and feel following a refurbishment this autumn.

"The investment will offer a range of modern comforts and stylish décor whilst preserving the building's heritage. With scenic harbourside views and delicious food and drinks menus served in a refreshed setting, we hope to offer fantastic experiences for all occasions.

“We look forward to welcoming locals back to celebrate the Spice Island's reopening this October."

The Spice Island Inn is known for its cosy interior and fantastic seating area outside that overlooks the harbour. More details concerning the refurbishment to follow in due course.
