A group of dedicated anglers are set to embark on a gruelling 24-hour fishing marathon to raise vital funds for Crewsaver Cancer Appeal and Cancer UK.

The Fishing GP will take place on the 14th and 15th of September 2024, with participants battling it out on the waters of the Western Solent. Anglers from across the region will compete in teams, with each boat required to raise a minimum sponsorship of £100. All proceeds from the event will be donated to support cancer research and patient care.

The fishing challenge will begin at 12:00pm on Saturday, 14th September and conclude at 12:00pm on Sunday, 15th September. The exact starting point will be confirmed in due course.

This exciting event will be live-streamed on the Angling Live App, allowing spectators to follow the action and cheer on their favourite teams.

Hi everyone and thank for volunteering for the 24hr Charity fishing Marathon. Its going to be a long hard fish in aid of the Crewsaver Breast Cancer fund and Cancer Uk

We will fish from 1200hrs Saturday 14th September to 1200hrs Sunday 15th September .

We ask each boat to post on as many social media Channels as possible that we raising money for the Crewsaver Breast Cancer fund.

Each boat will to try and raise at least £100 per angler in sponsorship ( more if possible) and post the link to the Crewsaver go fund me page for people to pay sponsorship money too please ask them to add Fish GP in the comments so we have some idea of how much we raise.

Meet at (Venue tbc) at 1000hrs for breakfast , briefing and boat safety checks by Crewsaver

Start at 1200hrs Saturday from Hamble Point Bouy

Finish be back by 1200 Sunday (venue TBC) boat with longest length of fish will receive a certificate of bragging rights . All anglers taking part will receive a Crewsaver life Jacket ,a competitors medal and small thank you goodie bag . We can then have a beer if we are still awake

This is a catch and Release event .

Min 2 Anglers per boat maximum of 3

4 - Rods per boat

3 - Hooks per rod

Bait - anything

· All boat to use VHF CH6

· If the weather changes for the worst during the event we may have to move to Southampton Water , this will be announced to all boats on CH6 by Mike Cave or Steve Foulis , however if you feel the weather is too bad for you please head to Southampton Water and inform all other boats of your intentions .

Total length of any one fish caught on each boat from the list below . Minimum length to be uploaded to app in brackets

You can submit as many of each fish but only the longest will count ( once you have caught a fish please make a note of it one the sheet provided, then only up load larger fish of that species, (this will save a lot of time updating the app)

Beware that within fishing zone there area cable and pipelines

· All Boat must be insurance

· It’s is recommended that each angler has third party liability insurance . (This can be obtained from insure4sports or Angling trust)

· Crewsaver will carry out safety checks of each boat ( list of equipment attached to this pack

· Life Jackets to be worn at all times during the event

The bad weather area will be a line from Calshot to Warsash shore . You can then fish in Southampton Water , Hamble River , Itchen and Test tidle parts .

( Please note - there is no anchoring in the Hamble so if you decide to fish there please pick up a spare mooring and be prepared to move if the owner return or requested by the harbour master)
