When Amy Kenchington first walked into a Slimming World group at just 27 years old, she carried with her a quiet hope that life could feel different.

Living in Bournemouth at the time, she committed to our healthy eating plan and quickly lost 2 stone. But as so many members know, real life doesn’t always move in straight lines. Progress slowed, confidence dipped, and eventually Amy stepped away. A move to Portsmouth followed – along with the weight she’d lost, and a little more besides.

What makes Amy’s story so powerful isn’t that she struggled. It’s that she came back.

Looking for a fresh start, Amy reached out to Slimming World Consultant Sam Jones, who runs the Thursday evening group in Leigh Park. From the very first message, the Slimming World values shone through: compassion, patience, and belief. There was no pressure to walk through the doors before she was ready – just reassurance that when she was, she’d be welcomed with open arms.

And that welcome stayed open for 15 months.

Every so often, a gentle message arrived. No judgement. No guilt. Just a reminder that she mattered. As Sam says, “It’s not that she can’t do it – it’s that she can’t yet.”

At the end of March 2025, Amy decided that yet had become now.

Nervous but determined, she walked into group. The promised “no-fuss” greeting lasted seconds before joy took over – and from that moment on, Amy hasn’t looked back. She lost an incredible 7½ lbs in her very first week and has since gone on to lose over 4 stone, such a life-changing milestone.

But as we know at Slimming World, weight loss is only part of the picture.

What’s truly remarkable is how Amy has transformed beyond the scales. Her confidence has blossomed. The hesitant young woman who once doubted herself now walks into group with a smile that lights up the room. Food Optimising has become second nature, proving once again that our healthy eating plan is flexible, generous, and limitless – built around real food, real lives, and real enjoyment.

Amy has thrown herself into group life, becoming a valued part of the social team and embracing the power of shared support. She’s even set her sights on becoming a Slimming World Consultant herself – a dream she admits she would have laughed at just six months ago.

Her achievements haven’t gone unnoticed. Amy has been crowned Woman of the Year, Greatest Loser, and Icon in group – awards that recognise not just weight loss, but courage, consistency, and heart.

Amy’s journey is a powerful reminder that Slimming World works for everyone – including those aged 18–34, who are often underrepresented in groups. As Amy says, the magic lies in the mix: people of all ages, backgrounds, and stories coming together with the same goal, supporting one another week after week. For her, those 40 minutes of group time have been the foundation of everything she’s achieved.

And it couldn’t feel more timely. As proud sponsors of Limitless on ITV, Slimming World is celebrating stories just like Amy’s – stories that show when you remove judgement, limits, and pressure, and replace them with kindness, flexibility, and belief, incredible change can happen.

Amy’s journey is living proof that this is about so much more than weight loss. It’s about patience. Perseverance. And the life-changing power of someone believing in you until you’re ready to believe in yourself.

Amy Kenchington isn’t just changing her own life. She’s inspiring others to realise that they, too, are limitless.
