Extra free Heritage Bus Services to run in Portsmouth during August - when

Portsmouth residents will have extra opportunities to ride on a historic bus in Southsea for free this summer.

During August the City of Portsmouth Preserved Transport Depot will be supporting Portsmouth City Museums special events on August 7, 14 and 21 by running its free Heritage Bus Service from outside the Museum to Old Portsmouth, South Parade Pier, Southsea Castle and Clarence Pier.

The buses will run between 11am and 3pm on each of the days. There will also be the normal monthly bus service starting from the D-Day Story museum on Sunday, August 18 between 11.30am and 3.30pm and September 15 at the same times.

  • D Day Story: 11:30, 12:30, 13:30, 14:30, 15:30
  • Clarence Pier: 11:35, 12:35, 13:35, 14:35, 15:35
  • Portsmouth Museum and Art Gallery: 11:44, 12:44, 13:44, 14:44, 15:44
  • Broad Street/Feltham Row: 11:49, 12:49, 13:49, 14:49, 15:49
  • Canoe Lake: 11:59, 12:59, 13:59, 14:59, 15:59

All services are free but the service relies on your donations to keep these vehicles on the road.

Next year two of our the service’s Portsmouth Open Top Buses will be 90 years old and it is planning to have a special event using them on the seafront in June or July 2025.
