The High Sheriff of Hampshire is issuing a final reminder for public servants, volunteers, individuals, charities and community groups to submit their nominations for the 2026 High Sheriff Community Awards before the deadline at 5pm on Friday, December 19.

Hosted by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation (HIWCF), the Awards recognise individuals and organisations making outstanding contributions across Hampshire, particularly those supporting the criminal justice system. Past award winners have included voluntary Police Community Support Officers, Community First Responders, foster parents, scout leaders and charitable organisations working to strengthen community cohesion and safety.

This year’s Awards will spotlight on individual volunteers and community groups whose creative, inspiring and impactful work is supporting the criminal justice system – including initiatives focused on prevention, rehabilitation and positive social change.

Sue Elton, High Sheriff of Hampshire for 2024–2025, said: "One of the most rewarding aspects of my role has been meeting the incredible individuals and organisations working tirelessly to support vulnerable people across Hampshire. I’ve had the privilege of shining a light on the vital work of our Judiciary, Police, Fire and Rescue, and the community groups who help keep our communities safe and strong.

"These awards are an opportunity to recognise and thank them – and I strongly encourage people to put forward nominations before the deadline."

Earlier this year, the High Sheriff hosted a summer celebration featuring Art With a Purpose, an exhibition showcasing how local groups are using art as a force for change – supporting individuals and contributing to the wider judicial system. Supporting disengaged young people, prisoners and ex-offenders through art and wellbeing initiatives continues to be an area of particular importance for the High Sheriff.

Jacqui Scott, HIWCF CEO, commented: "HIWCF is once again proud to support the High Sheriff in celebrating the individuals and organisations who work so hard to make Hampshire a safer, thriving place to live. This year, the Awards highlight those addressing crime, justice, safety and rehabilitation with creativity and innovation – from art programmes and mentoring schemes to inspiring community-led interventions.

"We are calling on communities to make their nominations now so we can shine a light on these incredible contributions."

Nominations must be submitted using the online form at hiwcf.org.uk by 5pm on Friday, December 19.

The awards will be presented by the High Sheriff at a ceremony in March 2026.
