A Rowans Hospice Lottery player won £2,000 on Monday, 25 November, Local Hospice Lottery’s weekly draw.

Andrew, from Lee-on-the-Solent, has been playing the Local Hospice Lottery in support of Rowans Hospice, since late 2020, after his wife, who was cared for by Rowans Hospice, died. His wife, came to Rowans Hospice in October 2018, where she initially was meant to stay for two weeks for symptom management and ended up stayed for six-months. Andrew described the care his wife received as “second to none”. He also mentioned how cared for he also felt during this time.

When we asked Andrew how he felt when he received the call that he had won he said; “I didn’t know if you were pranking me, and after a couple of minutes I realised it was serious, I had actually won!”

Andrew said “The money is already spent, I had a new conservatory done, so it’s going back in that pot.”, Andrew also donated £200 from his winnings to the Hospice, “I had promised myself I would do it if I won, so I couldn’t not do it.”.
