GCSE Results Day 2020: Recap update as Portsmouth, Gosport, Havant, Fareham, Waterlooville and Hayling Island students collected their grades
It follows the chaos of A-level results day last week and the announcement from the government that it would be U-turning and grades will be based on teacher predictions, instead of an algorithm.
Education Secretary Gavin Williamson, who has faced heavy pressure to resign, said this week: ‘I’m incredibly sorry for the distress that this has caused for those youngsters.

‘But that’s why we had to take action when we did.’
Schools across our area were open this morning for students to come in and receive their results. Others will email results to pupils.
