Children from the Gosport and Fareham Multi-Academy Trust reflected on the ultimate sacrifice made by past generations through a number of initiatives including the display of hand crafted poppy wreaths at Asda in Gosport and a moving socially distanced remembrance ceremony at Gomer Junior School.

Children from Rowner Junior School also wrote their own poems to capture the sombre mood of Armistice Day. Josh Wisnpear, 10, commented: ‘Remembrance Day is really important to me because it enables us to remember the people who fought in the war.’

Keira Moss, 10, added: ‘My Dad serves in the Royal Navy. I use Remembrance Day to think about him, the people he works with and those who fought for and continue to protect our country.’

Many of the children came dressed for the occasion in their sea cadet uniforms.

Executive headteacher Georgina Mulhall said: ‘This time of remembrance is incredibly important and one we commit to annually.’
