Here's why paramedics were outside a Hayling Island school this morning

PARAMEDICS were called to a school in Hayling Island after a parent felt unwell.

An ambulance crew was spotted outside Mengham Junior School in Palmerston Road this morning.

However the school has now moved to dispel fears about the incident and insist that it has nothing to do with coronavirus.

Head teacher Edward Harrison said: ‘This morning an ambulance crew attended to review a parent who has a long-term medical condition and was feeling unwell.

‘She has been taken to hospital for further tests but I can confirm that, at this time, there is no indication that the parent has contracted Coronavirus.

‘We have sought advice from Public Health England and the Department for Education. They have confirmed that we can stay open. School day is now continuing as normal.’
