We work with employers and schools all over the city, we are a patron of Shaping Portsmouth, a not-for-profit company whose vision is to make Portsmouth the UK’s number one city, and two ex-students of ours co-founded the award-winning Victorious Festival, which generated £15.5m for the city in 2021 and which has donated over £330,000 for good causes in and around the city too.

Our teaching staff pride themselves on providing an engaging and innovative learning experience to help students get everything they need to achieve their aspirations.

Across all of the course types we offer at HSDC, we have inspirational teachers and lecturers with excellent industry connections and experience in a range of practical fields.

Despite two years of studies being disrupted due to the pandemic, outstanding results across A Level, Vocational and Technical courses in 2021 showed that HSDC students have continued to thrive throughout difficult circumstances.

HSDC students achieved an overall pass rate of 99% with 67% of students securing A* to B or equivalent grades and 41% of our students achieving the highest A*/A or equivalent grades.

Richard Barlow, HSDC Deputy Principal, said: ‘We are beyond proud of our students across all courses and levels for the way in which they have adapted to constantly changing circumstances in recent years.

‘They have shown so much resilience and positivity throughout the pandemic, supported by our wonderful staff.

‘As we saw on Results Day, our students have continued to thrive and achieve fantastic results despite it all, and we are feeling extremely positive about the future and what HSDC and its students will continue to achieve.’

Applying to study at HSDC is so easy! We are currently accepting online applications for September 2022, with our prospectus and entire range of courses available to browse at hsdc.ac.uk before applying.

We offer a wide range of A Levels, T Levels and Vocational qualifications across our three Hampshire campuses at Havant, South Downs in Waterlooville and Alton.

We have been working hard to update our facilities to reflect real-world workplaces as much as possible to give students a head start towards their future careers.

We were the only college in the region chosen to launch all three of the first T Levels in September 2020 and following their success we now have more than 200 students studying T Levels with us.

HSDC has significantly invested in new facilities and resources to support this, with the support of £4m in additional government funding, and we were proud to recently unveil our Health & Nursing facilities at our South Downs campus.

Our impressive nursing facilities, complete with hospital ward, mocked-up apartment and brand new labs, gained significant acclaim when they made the front page of The News, Portsmouth.

We have been recognised nationally, with our staff and students speaking at a wide range of events and meeting with both industry leaders and educational experts about the new qualifications.

With T Levels available at HSDC in construction, digital, engineering and business careers (and lots more!), there is simply no better choice locally for an A Level equivalent route to your future career.

We also offer more than 40 A Level courses at our Havant Campus, with a wide range of enrichment opportunities to help students get the most out of college life.

Richard Barlow added: ‘We can’t wait to welcome another cohort of new students in September to join us here at HSDC. We pride ourselves on offering the widest range of high-quality courses, and there really is something for everyone across the breadth of our course provision.

‘From A Levels to T Levels, Vocational courses to Apprenticeships, we offer something to suit each learner’s needs and interests.

‘All of our courses are designed to prepare students for their next steps in education or careers, equipping them with all the skills needed for success in the world of work or in Higher Education.

‘HSDC staff work hard to help students reach their full potential through excellent teaching and learning, superb support, and state-of-the-art facilities which are constantly being updated to ensure students get the best experience possible during their time with us.’

Whether you want to progress on to university degrees, are keen to enter the world of work or want to start your own business, HSDC can be the platform to help you succeed.
