Key figure in transformation of Gosport's St Vincent College takes over as head
The new year brings with it new beginnings and new opportunities – and this is particularly true at St Vincent College in Gosport, where Andy Grant has been appointed as Head of College.
Andy, who has worked as a member of the college’s senior team for the past seven years, succeeds Matt Atkinson, who has assumed the role of Chief Executive of the Lighthouse Learning Trust, the umbrella education partner of the college.
Andy has been a key figure in the transformation of the highly-regarded college in recent years, which has led to St Vincent being ranked in the top 10 per cent of all colleges for Vocational Level 3 provision in each of the past four years.
This is in addition to successive Grade 2 (Good) Ofsted inspections, the most recent of which saw the college receive the most positive and successful feedback report in its 31-year history.
Andy said: ‘I am both delighted and honoured to be afforded the opportunity to lead the college on its journey of continued success and improvement. I take on this role in the knowledge that I am supported by a wonderful and highly dedicated staff team who work tirelessly to provide the highest standards of teaching and support that enable our students to thrive.’
He continued: ‘My passion for education is matched only by my enthusiasm to support the college to grow and develop. This includes developing our curriculum offer and investing in facilities and resources for our students, both school leavers and adults.
‘The future of the college is looking very positive and we look forward to the Gosport and Fareham community joining us on the journey.’
Andy has set about his new role swiftly with the development of a new Strategic Plan which will drive ambitious plans for the college to grow and develop.
Young people and adults seeking to find out more about the opportunities available at St Vincent can meet Andy and his team at their next Open Evening on Wednesday February 5 from 5pm-7.30pm.
