The video was the idea of parent, Sophia Benham, 45, and her son Beau Benham-Wyatt, 11, who attends the school. Due to the coronavirus lockdown, pupils were not able to celebrate the end of primary school before starting secondary school in September.

Beau said: ‘I thought it would be a good idea to say thank you to our teachers for their help during lockdown. Everything finished so suddenly and we didn’t get the chance to say goodbye. It was good fun to be able to put the video together. I am looking forward to starting Purbrook Park School in September.’

A total of 35 children sent in videos and photographs with messages of thanks to be used in the thank you compilation. The initiative was co-ordinated by Sophia through social media.

Sophia said: 'It was fantastic to see so many parents come on board and seeing the messages was actually quite uplifting. Lyndhurst have been fantastic during lockdown and the teachers have made a number of videos which have been a real boost for the children and so we wanted to do something in return.

‘It was good for the children to be able to do something together. They have missed out on the end-of-year party and show which would normally happen at the end of Year 6,’

After seeing the video on social media, head of school at Lyndhurst, Ali Beechurst, said: ‘Throughout lockdown Lyndhurst has used videos to stay connected with our pupils, families and staff. We were delighted to receive the wonderful video from Beau and his mum to celebrate a very strange time of year for our Year 6's.

‘We are really sad to say goodbye to them but know they are ready for the next challenge and know that they will continue to be successful.’
