PICTURE GALLERY: Portsmouth Schools Christmas Carol Concert
The Schools’ Christmas Carol Concert was held tonight on the steps of the Portsmouth Guildhall.
The event was hosted by the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth Councillor David Fuller, who was dressed in festive red, and Lady Mayoress Leza Tremorin, who was dressed an angel.

Hide AdThirty-three schools from across Portsmouth took part in the show, which had music provided by the Salvation Army Portsmouth Citadel Band.
Sophie Greppi, eight, from Portsdown Primary School, was singing, cheered on by mum Tina.
Tina, from Wymering, said: ‘It is an amazing show. It is very emotional. It is the first time she has done anything like this so I am proud of her.’
Father Christmas appeared on the steps half-way through the show during a rendition of Santa Claus is Coming To Town to cheers from the children.

Hide AdKitty Cushman, six, from Arundel Court Primary School, said that was one of her favourite parts of the whole show.
She said: ‘It was really good. I really liked it when we sang Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer and then Father Christmas was really good too.’
Other singers were Felicity Harry, seven, and Vimbai Mushunje, nine, from Portsdown Primary School, in Cosham.
Vimbai said: ‘My favourite part was Father Christmas, and singing We Wish You A Merry Christmas at the end.’

Hide AdYear 3 teacher Jo Coney was looking after a group from Arundel Court Primary School, in Landport.
She said: ‘We come every year. It is a great as a lot of children do not get the opportunity to attend shows like this. Events like this are nice as we can bring them along and parents can come along and watch too.’
Watching from the crowd was Glenn and Sarah Wilson, from Milton, and their daughter five-year-old Isabel. They were supporting seven-year old James, from Meon Infant School, in Southsea.
Dad Glenn said: ‘I think it is really good. There’s a great Christmas atmosphere and it is a great way to start Christmas.’

Hide AdIsabel said: ‘Now I am really excited for Christmas. I’m excited as Santa is going to give us presents as I have been an angel.’
