Portsmouth school celebrating after '˜excellent' inspection

A CITY school's education has been hailed as excellent by inspectors.

The Portsmouth Grammar School has been recognised by the Independent Schools Inspectorate as being excellent in the quality of education it offers pupils throughout its nursery, junior and senior schools and sixth form.

Inspectors found that the pupils’ achievement and learning were excellent, and students were confident, caring, articulate, well-mannered, enthusiastic and committed learners.

Headmaster James Priory said: ‘We are particularly pleased to see that teaching and learning are recognised as being excellent throughout the whole school.

‘Initiatives such as the introduction of continuous assessment and the connected curriculum in the junior school and the use of digital technology in the senior school were seen by inspectors as contributing positively to the pupils’ progress and learning, which was fantastic feedback to receive.’
