Primary school allocations in Portsmouth to go ahead as normal

PARENTS will still find out next week which infant and junior schools in Portsmouth their children will be attending in the coming academic year.

School allocation day for primary age children remains unchanged despite the coronavirus pandemic, with emails or letters due to be sent on April 16.

However, Portsmouth City Council has advised that applications to change schools during the year have been suspended.

On the council's website it said: 'National offer day remains unchanged. Parents are advised of allocation via email (if applied online) or by letter sent on Thursday, April 16 2020. Allocations cannot be notified by telephone.

'In-year applications are currently not being processed due to the closure of schools. This service will resume once schools re-open.

'If you are a key worker or your child has a particular vulnerability and you are unable to make suitable arrangements for your child, please do contact [email protected].'

Allocations for secondary schools were announced on March 2.
