Following the completion of the facility, headteacher Sara Spivey, said: ‘The facilities that Springfield now has in place for the teaching of science and technology are quite honestly the best that I have seen in a secondary school.

‘As a former science teacher myself, I know the positive difference that a well designed laboratory space supported by up to date IT and technological equipment makes to pupils' learning experience.

‘Our students deserve the best, and that's what everyone involved in the project has worked to achieve for them. It has been a joy hearing the students' positive comments and we look forward to them enjoying the facilities for many years to come.’
