Authority supports mental health awareness scheme

AN AUTHORITY threw its support behind raising awareness of children's mental health.

Hampshire County Council supported Child Mental Health Week, which ended on Sunday and aimed to highlight mental health issues in young people.

Councillor Patricia Stallard, who represents Denmead and is charge of public health in Hampshire, said: ‘Developing resilience among our young people is critical to helping them cope with life’s challenges.

Parents, carers and those working with children are best-placed to help them develop coping skills to improve their emotional health, wellbeing and resilience.

‘As a mental health champion, I am keen to promote MindEd, which is a free resource for anyone working or volunteering regularly with children or young people.

‘It aims to help us better understand children and young people’s mental health and how we can best help a child who may need some support.
