It is the one year anniversary since Portsmouth was first put into lockdown.

On March 23, 2020, the Prime Minister announced that all non-essential shops as well as pubs, restaurants, theatres, nightclubs, gyms, libraries and other venues had to shut.

12 months later and the city remains in lockdown for the third time – however measures are beginning to ease.

To mark the one year anniversary of the first lockdown, here are our photos from 2020 showing how Portsmouth was turned into a ghost town under the restrictions.
