In order to minimise any potential risks, staff have been provided with personal protective equipment including masks and gloves while any deliveries will simply be left at customers’ doors.

The opening of the drive-through follows the reopening of four restaurants earlier this month on a ‘delivery only’ basis.

Marketing director, Katie Evans, said: We are so pleased to be able to open more restaurants across the UK this week including our first restaurant for customer drive-through - which is a huge step forward.’

Burger King bosses have reassured all customers that staff have been trained to maintain the government’s social distancing measures along with a strict cleaning process to maintain restaurant hygiene.

The restaurant chain has pledged to reopen one restaurant in every city by the end of May and have also confirmed that reopened outlets would be looking to donate meals to NHS staff working in local hospitals.

Other restaurants which joined the Havant drive-through in reopening are in Dundee, Aberdeen, Reading, Hillington, Southampton, Merton and Springfield Quay.
